Hedgehog house
Intended for the Eastern European and Western European hedgehog.

Hedgehogs are useful animals that can help us fight pests such as snails in the garden. When it gets cold, they fall asleep, which can last up to 5 months. Before that, they have to find a suitable place to provide shelter and isolation from the cold. We offer a hedgehog house, adjusted to their size, providing a safe habitat, protecting against moisture and predators.

In recent years, the number of hedgehogs has been falling, which is why in Poland they are subject to strict protection and require active protection. This means that their lives cannot be interfered with, you cannot frightened or transferred them. However, you can (and even have to) help them, for example by creating shelters for the winter. The houses can be placed under a tree or shrub, which will provide additional protection against chilly winds, or you can cover the top with leaves, and put some sawdust, dry grass or leaves inside.

The presented house for hedgehogs has a shape addjusted to their needs:
- appropriate dimensions of the house and entrance corridor,
- a long entrance corridor prevents predators from reaching the sleeping hedgehog,
- the full floor protects against cold from the ground,
- an openable roof allows you to clean the house in spring after the hedgehog comes out.

The house is made of boards planed on both sides, which increases the durability of the house and reduces the risk of injuring the hedgehog by any splinters.

Material:
Wood dried to the "air-dry" state was used for the construction of the house, thanks to which it will not swell, will not form gaps and cracks.

Dimensions:

  • height  24 cm,
  • width 36 cm,
  • length (with a corridor) 54 cm,
  • entrance dimensions 13 cm x 11 cm.

Weight:
10 kg

Finish:
The house is painted with a wood impregnate that protects it against unfavorable climatic and habitat conditions (high humidity, microbiological decomposition).
The roof of the house is covered with roofing felt, which significantly extends the durability of the habitat.

Colors:
Pine (clear varnish) or brown.
The colors in the picture may differ from the actual colors of the product.
